1.8 Medical care (clinics, hospitals and insurances) and dental care

Ukraine is not known for good quality public health care. International organizations and companies have ready medical plans for emergencies and regular care for their expats. In case of emergency expats are often air-lifted out of Ukraine to ‘home’ countries.

For first line medical assistance in Kyiv there are several options such as Boris, Medicom, Eurolab and American Medical center. Only Boris offers 2nd line support in-house while the others rely on calling in specialists from other local hospitals.

There are some positive stories from expats with regard to medical treatments but often people rely on their home country for treatment.

It is advised to consult with your insurance company to check which clinics/hospitals are approved for reimbursement.

Dental care is a similar story. Since the price is low people from Western Europe come to get treatment in Kyiv. To name a few clinics: Porcelain, Q-clinic, and French dental center. The clinics that can be found through Google often speak English.
